About me
Hi! I am a first year Ph.D student and Vanier Scholar in the Department of Computer Science at UBC. I am very fortunate to be advised by Nicholas Harvey. Currently I am exploring some new stuff in an effort to merge my academic interests with my hobbies. Vaguely speaking, I am interested in using machine learing to come up with a better understanding of human movement.
I completed my Bachelors degree with a combined major in mathematics and computer science at UBC in 2018. During my final year, I had the privilege to be introduced to the world of research in Theoretical Computer Science by Hu Fu. We worked on efficient algorithms for computing pure Nash equilibria with good social welfare in simultaneous second price auctions.
In August 2020 I completed my M.Sc in Computer Science under Nick Harvey. We worked on some theoretical machine learning problems involving non-smooth convex optimization and prediction under expert advice. You can find my M.Sc thesis here.
When I’m not doing research you are likely to find me either stretching on my living room floor, on the mats at Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu or wrestling practice, hanging from a pull-up bar or gymnastic rings, or exploring other fun ways to learn more about my body.
